SUMMARY:Workshop on the ecosystemic approach in Digital Trade in Rwanda
DESCRIPTION:Digital Africa is organising a workshop on May 26th 2022\, in Kigali. Our mission is to equip African tech entrepreneurs in their capabilities to design and scale digital innovations for the real economy. This event is part of our participation in the European project AEDIB|NET\, which aims to strengthen the African digital innovation ecosystem and create bridges of cooperation between Africa and Europe. \nThe objective of this event is to provide a methodology of the ecosystem approach in the field of digital trade-in Rwanda: its key factors of success and its challenges\, by taking example on a use case (DOORS- Digital innovation for SMEs). The guests are about twenty representatives of the diversity of stakeholders of the ecosystem – startups\, universities\, investors\, and institutionals. \nThe use-case: DOORS – Digital innovation for SMEs \nThe aim of this digital innovation hub (DIH) is to increase technology adoption and digitization efforts of Rwandan SMEs. In Rwanda\, the adoption of digital tools and technology uptake is low among the SMEs. SME entrepreneurs lack basic digital skills and the knowledge of how technology and digitalization can bring in business benefits. The consortium will develop and deliver a series of activities that will\, \n\nCreate awareness of digital technologies\nImprove digital entrepreneurship skills\nDemonstrate technology in action\nHelp SMEs integrate technology in business\nAdvice on start-ups and setting up\nExports and internationalization.\nRunning kick-starter\, hackathon activities\nProviding matchmaking services\n\nIt is aimed that the DIH and its activities will help in capability and capacity building towards digitization and develop an entrepreneurial ecosystem that will empower Rwandan SMEs to use digital tools and technologies to create economic and social value. \nConsortium members: \n\nCoventry University Africa Hub\,\n250 Startups Incubator\n\nKey objectives of the hub: \n\nDevelop and nurture relationships to improve digitalization in Rwandan SMEs\nFacilitate the promotion of digitalization of projects\, startups and an ecosystem that include the active participation of SMEs in Rwanda\nEnriching the innovation ecosystem by focusing on uptakes of digital technologies and derive benefits from the use of them\n\nProgram of the day\n \n8h30 Welcoming of the participants\n9h-10h Introduction (All participants)\n10h-10h30 Presentation of the ecosystemic approach and the project of the hub\n10h30-11h Networking coffee\n11h-12h30 Building up an ecosystem approach -“allies strategy” design\n12h30-13h Wrap up of the day\n13h- 14h30 Networking lunch\n \n Read more

SUMMARY:Building Sustainable Partnerships with Enrich in Africa & beyond: The Africa-Europe Innovation Partnership’s final event
DESCRIPTION:On 29-30 June\, the AEIP organises the final event! It marks the official end of the AEIP pilot and focuses on celebrating and disseminating information on the key achievements\, lessons learnt across all activities\, and on discussing ways to continue to collaborate in a more sustainable manner. Outcomes of all the different project activities will serve to demonstrate the benefits of African-European innovation collaboration and exemplify the added value of the AEIP in facilitating such a collaboration. The success stories chosen also showcase how innovation collaboration can contribute to the UN SDGs. \nThe event also provides a platform for relevant\, recently launched third party initiatives/opportunities to present themselves and to discuss how these could be used to continue some of the activities launched in the AEIP in the future\, after the AEIP itself is no longer financed by the European Commission. The event will be attended by the Commissioners of the African Union\, European Commission and national governments\, as well as\, by other prominent speakers across Africa and Europe.
